Winter term in review
That’s us finished with our regular classes until after Easter. Here we reflect on some of this terms highlights.
Southend Makes Music
We were thrilled to be asked to perform again at this years’ Southend Makes Music at The Palace Theatre. Our seniors gave another excellent performance. Their song choices included; Still Into You (Paramore), Never ever Love a Liar (Bea and her Business) and an original arrangement of Creep by Radiohead that included James on the Bouzouki! Watch out for news of the seniors Summer gig on Friday 28 June.
Spring Showcase
We celebrated another successful Spring Showcase for our Saturday Music School and Vocal Tech students, back at our favourite venue Twenty-One. We were treated to covers and original songs written by our songwriters and performed by bands, groups, acoustic and solo performances. This group will be back at Twenty-One for their Summer Showcase on 30 June.
Open Mic!
Drop the Mic! Our monthly Open Mic for young musicians continues to attract performers from across the local community, from Singer/Songwriters, instrumentalists, vocalists and bands.
This term we launched the Drop the Mic! Youth Forum so young people can help define the future of these events. To find out more about both joining the forum and attending the next event - Click here
Olly’s Quiz
Thank you to everyone who came out for Olly’s Quiz earlier this term. It was his first time hosting and I think everyone who attended will agree, he’s a natural! The evening included some obvious music, general knowledge and film rounds, plus the not-so-obvious - including ‘the Olly round’!
The evening raised a total of £700 for the bursary fund, meaning more children from low-income backgrounds can join The Song School.
That’s a wrap!
That’s a wrap from us. We’ll be back for regular classes week commencing 15th April. To find out more about joining The Song School, click below:
