Walkers & Supporters come together for The Song School
The inaugural Estuary Walk, supported by c2c Rail took place on 22nd August, bringing together a fundraising team of walkers and The Song School’s largest number of supporters to date.
The walkers set off at 8am from Leigh-on-sea station, taking the coastal route all the way to East Beach, for the 10 mile trek. The route was supposed to include a jaunt to the end of the pier and back but sadly the great British summer weather was up to its usual tricks. Instead, the walkers modified the route by doubling back to East Beach at the end, where the settled at the new beach cafe for a well deserved ice-cream!
Fundraising Manager for The Song School, Olly Gourley said; “The level of support we received for this event has been incredible. From our extended community of supporters, team of walkers, sponsor at c2c and the staff at Southend Pier (on the run up to the event!) - it was a real team effort from across the community”.
The initiative has raised over £1,000 which will contribute towards providing free places to join The Song School for a full year, for those who need it. It will also be used to make some minor repairs to the studios in Alexandra Street, ahead of the new term starting this September.
