We’re very excited to be bringing you this years holiday workshop programme: The Sounds on Sea Project.
What is the project?
Participants on the project will learn about the rich popular musical heritage of Southend-on-Sea, through exploring the sounds, venues, culture and fashion; learning to play and perform in various styles and working towards an end of project gig in October half-term, at the towns most iconic music venue: Chinnerys.
Who can get involved?
We’re looking for young musicians aged 14+ to join the team and help us define the project: Which artists and genres do you want to explore? How do you want to get involved? Behind the scenes? Sound? Lighting? Event Management? On stage? Who do you want to see play? Tell us!
The project is split into three phases that look like this:
Phase 1: Easter Holidays. 8th - 10th April, from 10am - 3pm (COMPLETED)
Phase 2: Summer Holidays. 14th - 16th | 19th - 21st August, from 10am - 3pm.
Phase 3: October half-term. 28th - 30th October. Phase three will include full rehearsals 10am - 3pm, then timings for the set up and final performance at Chinnerys on the 30th TBC.
Is there a cost to take part?
The project is free to attend for children and young people from low-income families - we use the following to assess if you are eligible; total household income, in receipt of benefits such as Universal Credit, Pupil Premium, Child Tax Credits. We will take you through the sign up process for a free place once you have completed the registration form below.
For everyone else, the cost to attend is £90 for the remaining phases of the project (Summer and October). This amount can be paid in instalments and can be broken down per phase - simply ask us about this on sign up. If you’re not able to make all phases of the project, please talk to us about this on sign up.
