We’re very excited to be bringing you phase 2 of The 2023 Hands Together Project! In collaboration with Project Southchurch.
What is the project?
Phase 1 saw us write and record a brand new song around the theme ‘Hands Together’ and now in phase 2, we will be filming the accompanying music video.
Who can get involved?
Anyone interested in music, acting, directing and multimedia! Phase 2 of the project will offer opportunities to be involved both in front and behind the camera - developing technical skills such as directing and use of multimedia; therefore being on film is not a requirement.
Phase 2 will take place from Monday 23 - Friday 27 October 2023, from 10am - 5pm. The full week is for young people aged 10+
We will also be an under 10’s filming day on Monday 23rd: 12:30pm - 3:30pm
What is Hands Together?
Hands Together, Southend Against Hatred is a campaign launched in November 2021 by community organisation Project Southchurch. The project idea is a symbol of defiance against those who wish to divide us through hate and terror, following the tragic death of Sir David Ames. The output (originally in the form of a physical banner) showcases our strength through unity and that tolerance and diversity runs through the very heart of this new city. It also spotlights the positive actions of a community working together, challenging perceptions.
We’ll be working with the themes of Hands Together across the project to create music and images that represent the participants perceptions of the theme.
Is there a cost to take part?
The project is free to attend for children and young people from low-income families - qualifying criteria is included in the sign up form below.
For everyone else, the cost to attend is £60 for the full week. This amount can be paid in monthly instalments - you will be asked which you’d prefer in the sign up form.
The cost for the under 10s filming day is £12.
